Meet Your Guide
Joe Spencer
Most fishing tales start small and grow in size with each telling. Joe got his start with bobbers, worms and Georgia bluegill at 3 years old. His dad described him as a “10 pound mudcat” when he was born, so perhaps fishing is in his DNA. Joe has spent, essentially, his entire life fishing the South East for bass, trout and anything with fins. He managed to turn an obsession into a career, and in 2004 he began guiding out of Boone NC while attending Appalachian State. Thus began a journey of sharing the water with clients over the course of the last decade. With stents in Patagonia, New Zealand, and Australia, he has become a well traveled and seasoned guide with heaps of “on the water” experience. Joe feels that a day on the water is about exploration, relaxation, and fellowship. Joe lives in Asheville NC, he has two little anglers, his daughter, Juniper, and son, Weston. His wife, Kelly, the best catch ever, is definitely a keeper.
